01

Choose where Parts Inventory runs

For one PC, Docker Desktop on that workshop computer is practical. For several workstations, prefer a small always-on Linux server or NAS that supports Docker Engine and Compose v2. Everyone then opens the same address in their browser.

02

Install and create the first Administrator

  1. Start DockerDocker Desktop on Windows, or Docker Engine with Compose v2 on Linux.
  2. Run the customer kitDouble-click install.exe on Windows or run ./install on Linux.
  3. Keep the displayed address and tokenThe one-time setup token is only needed to create the first Administrator.
  4. Complete onboardingEnter workshop name, currency, receiving location and optionally a printer.
03

Receive your first part

Open Receive. Scan a supplier label or enter a supplier number, review the part, enter quantity, choose a location and optionally print a label. If lookup fails, you can always continue manually.

04

Questions to answer up front

Who will be Administrator?

Choose someone responsible for users, settings, backup and restore. Create individual accounts for daily work; do not share an administrator password.

What is our default receiving location?

Create a clear Inbox or Receiving location for parts that have not yet reached their final shelf.

Where will the independent backup live?

Not only in the same Docker volume. Choose a NAS/synchronized folder, WebDAV or S3-compatible storage and test restore.
